MALAD, IDAHO: Malad High School 1940 Mirror

Special thanks to Brad Thorpe for the loan of his mother’s 1940 yearbook. Her name was Reva Jones Thorpe. This fine lady was born 17 October 1921 at Cherry Creek, Oneida, Idaho. She graduated from Malad High School May 1940 but not without getting married first. She married William “Billie” Thorpe on November 22, 1939. She still attended her senior year by participating in many events including basketball. She is featured on the 3rd page of the Seniors as well as page 47 where the Seniors pronounce their last will. She and Billie were married until they died. He in 2002 and she in 2003.

In this issue, not only are the Senior Wills included but what a student was famous for saying or being known as. Juniors had the same honor of being quoted. All throughout the book are notes of “m-1” or “m-2” for which I am not aware of the meaning.

Brad’s mom is listed as “Mrs. Thorpe,” Reva Jones.
Reva played on undefeatable basketball team her Junior year. But after she was married in the Salt Lake Temple in November and began to wear the designated under clothing, the girls chided her. As if her under clothing had anything to do with them. So she quit the team and they were no longer making the points they had before. Source: Brad Thorpe, February 2022.
Reva Jones Thorpe is listed third one up on the right side.
