Burton, Ronald and Verona

“All that is best in life

Always I wish for you,

All that means happiness

All the year through

And though I don’t know

How to say all you mean to me,

I know my happiness

Always is you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Verona

Nov 4, 1938″

I came across the following treasure of a love story between Ronald and Verona. The cards span from 1937 to 1968. The one clue as to their last name was in a card labeled by their small son, Scott, when he put his full name as little ones do when they are learning to write. Curious, I found more information about them on familysearch.org. There, their daughter, Jan, added photos of this family giving additional life to the cards. Immerse with me as we travel in awe at their devotion to one another. Mystery still surrounds the cards such as what happened to Scott and Jan. And how did I end up with this special song of the heart.

Ronald Shurtliff Burton was born November 4, 1917 in Lewisville, Jefferson, Idaho. Verona Allen was born April 12, 1919 in Trenton, Mercer, New Jersey. They were married November 17, 1939. Scott Allen Burton was born to them September 17, 1948 and Jan was adopted to them July 1955. Information is not provided as to whether or not Scott was adopted. Ronald died June 27, 2000 and Verona died April 25, 2005. Familysearch says that Scott died as well.
