Letters are Windows to the Past

Recently – with astonishing relief as one can imagine – I found the letters my dad had written to his mom while he served in the Navy during the 1950’s as well as letters between my mother and her own mother when Mom was a child and a young mother. Overwhelmed does not even describe my emotions. And as I have been scanning these treasures my emotions keep getting the better of me. In front of me sits a picture of my dad as a young father and me as a baby just starting to walk. I miss him so much. I love to collect things from the past so that we can remember, honor, learn, avoid repeating mistakes, and often just so that we can feel the presence again of a time that once gave us a sense of security, if only in our hearts. My father and I were close up until the time I became a teen-ager due to the specific events surrounding that period and not because of my youth. We both share many of qualities. Gratefully, the advancement of technology has allowed me to share the loves and lives of many beautiful people with you. Bear with me as I take the modest time to share with you these. You are welcome to copy and paste and share with others.
